Certification is available for either biomedical research or social behavioral research. One of the two areas must be selected. NOTE: If your research involves collection of biological samples for genetic testing, you must complete the certification for biomedical researchers. All users must complete general modules and then either the biomedical submodules or the social behavioral submodules in order to obtain certification.

Certification Process

You must take four general modules along with their quizzes, and then complete either the biomedical submodules or the social behavioral submodules.

Upon completion of the on-line course, you will be able to print out a certificate signifying course completion. The certificate will indicate which type of certification has been achieved. If you complete the required modules and quizzes for both types of certifications, you may print out a certificate for each, showing completion of that course. The certification submitted to OPRS must be appropriate for the type of research proposal submitted.

Disclaimer: completion of this course does not ensure IRB approval for any or all proposals submitted to the IRB.
